New Video: Our 10 Yr. Goal and Core Values
We are working hard to dial in our 5-7 key metrics for the company across operations, customer service, and sales. The team has started using a shared google doc that is updated each Tuesday before our weekly meeting. The key concept here is “if you are sitting on a beach in the Bahamas and the drink girl brings you a note card with these 5-7 numbers you know whether to order one more or hop on the next plane.”
A stress-free vacation….now that is a nice thought!
We have a goal for each metric. If we hit the goal, the number is colored green, if we miss it is colored red. Two reds in a row means we have a problem.
This has been a very effective tool for monitoring and growing the business.
I attended an investment conference a few weeks ago in Columbia, MO. There were 250 folks there who ran hedge funds, real estate firms, VC investors, and a few crypto guys. The point was to meet other folks, cross-pollinate ideas, and learn a few things. I walked away with a few interesting take always:
There are lots of interesting ways to make money and start a business.
The grass is not greener on the other side of the fence, it is just grass.
If you have something that works, don’t get distracted by shiny objects. Put your head down and do the work.
Everyone was very positive about the future, while at the same time preparing for the unknown.
Folks are very generous and overall just a ton of fun to meet and hang out with.
