New Podcast:
I am excited to roll out my newest adventure, the Pearson Perspective. This show will be a deep dive on the stories and mindsets of successful business operators and investors. I just about have season one fully recorded and they will be released each Wednesday at 10 am. We will record two seasons of 12 episodes for a total of 24, then evaluate the progress. Ten episodes will be an interview format with a guest and two episodes will be with yours truly about things I have learned long the way.
The 1st show is with my good friend Nick. He was kind enough to fly down from Michigan for a live show. We had a ton of fun and a few ol’ fashions at the Southern Hotel. He owns 1/2 a dozen businesses in a 1/2 states states with over 200 employees. When he talks, I listen!
I was encouraged to pursue this idea by a good friend only 65 days ago and now it is reality. If I am proud of anything, it is that simple fact. How often do we have the next “great” idea, but fail to execute. Or a friend tells us it will never work? I know it has happened to me plenty of times.
I want share a little how I think about new projects like this. First I ask my self a series of questions.
Who not how. Who knows more than I do about this and who can help my accomplish the objective? Not how do I learn this? I simply don’t have the time nor am I smart enough to become an expert.
I need to simplify this as much as possible. What items are repeatable? For example I have template email to is sent to all guests with a sample set of questions and login instructions.
What systems of checklists can we put in place to streamline?
Fear Setting- Ted Talks This talk with Tim Ferris does a great job of identify your fears, points of failure, and how to counter those points. But more importantly it helps me to evaluate of cost of inaction. Many times, but not always, the cost if inaction is higher than the cost of failure.
It was short and sweet today. If you enjoyed this today, please forward it to another curious friend. I love your replies to The Real Deal. I read every single one, and I try to respond as often as I can.
